Lutyens meets Boston’s North Shore in this kitchen. The designer re-interpreted life in a contemporary mansion, enriching it with country estate influences. Whimsical details such as a telephone room just off the kitchen-family space alluded to its English origins.
Public and private spaces are thoughtfully balanced, blending the formal aspects of the estate living with family sensibilities. The owners entertain and need a sufficiently formal setting to stage such events. The kitchen is endowed with custom cabinetry, butler’s pantry adjacent to the dining room and storage pantry.
At the same time, the kitchen allows its occupants to enjoy a casual lifestyle with such spaces as the hearthside eating area.
