OLD&D designers applied a rigorous methodology to the development of the built environment by allowing the building to reflect its occupant’s corporate culture. OLD&D defined a “narrative walk” down the central corridor of the newlyadapted structure, to showcase the company’s unique R&D process. It provides generous beginning-to-end views into off-limits technical labs and computer spaces. When taken on a tour, investors glimpse secure technology and patented research processes at work.
At the rear entrance to the lobby, the “narrtive path” terminates after a series of views into secure labs and high-tech spaces. The path ends, at the gallery of R&D models displayed at the rear entrance. The wooden gallery walls also echo the materials and forms used in the formal front entrance lobby, with its wide angled mahogany reception desk.
