The design and flow for Archemix Corporation was developed through a series of meetings with each department head. Through these meetings emphasis was placed on a large central area for company wide gatherings and meetings. The cafeteria was designed with movable walls surrounding two perimeter conference rooms, allowing the space to be small enough for intimate lunches ,and to have the ability to be folded back for larger meetings.

Lab daylighting, a priority, was achieved through the use of glazed openings at the perimeter of the labs. To continue the design of the glazed openings, art niches are repeated in rhythm down the corridors where windows are not appropriate.

The color scheme for the 37,000 sf of lab, office and conferencing facility at Archemix Corporation was derived from the biopharmaceutical company’s marketing material.
